Matrix is HERE!

Post by dirtycooter » Fri May 03, 2013 4:27 pm

So far for the 15 minutes I got to spend with it

ITS FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!

Just a noticeable difference in the openess and harmonic detail. Not a huge step up in power though-it was actually a step down. Bit so far havin to rush around for work

Totally worth it!!!
Theres some airiness thats there that brings out so much transparent detail. All while sounding fat and round and not at all harsh. You would swear I duplicated my main one head with two more.
And thats exactly what I was lookin for.

Fan runs all the time which I thought was odd and I woulda rather had a heftier more robust rocker switch for the power.
Plus for as much current amplification it produces ai was a little stunned at the skinny power cord.
Raw line out unsimulated line level feed works perfect. So I can take the simulation out of the path now.
Its just harmonically more rich and juicier feelin is how I would best describe it.
Been wishin for an amp like this for over 15 years and I think it nails it to a T. Glad Matrix finally took the lead and built what I had been tryin to find and talkin about.
And it is light ass hell!! Unbeleivable how light it is.

I went for the 1000. Pricey but I would do it again. Almost pussed out and got the gm50 mono block but dude...
This thing is workin like Jessica Beal in a tiiiiight dress!!
Been playin around with it for the last hour and a half again and it just "feels" much better. Actually can feeel it.
Super happy with this thing.
Lighter BIG TIME!, super small 1 rack space, shallow to boot-not much deeper than a furman power conditioner and weighs almost the same. You just could not ask for a better clean SS power amp. The HH is obsolete as far as I am concerned-it beats it 6 ways from Sunday. Like 13yr old Jonny with his first Playboy magazine. The HH is 4 spaces-weighs tons more and way deeper. This thing just dusts it in that regard, delivers more power to boot by a 100 watts per side.
Ran it for over an hour in full wdw and it didn't even THINK of gettin warm on top of the chassis. And all this fan noise thats talked about on the other forums about which one is quiter-the 2 space vs the 1 space 1000. Are you kidding me?? Non issue on the fan noise. You almost have to strain to hear it.
So I just dropped a easy 90-100lbs off my rig as I don't have a a seperate 4 space shock rack full of heavy amplifier to contend with anymore. Its the ultimate end all slave amp for me. I feel like its Christmas
I am just floored how much whomp this thing has and how flippin light/small it is. Its mind boggling :stars:
And that cheap ass Behringer line mixer I aquired for peanuts?? Thats stayin in there. Workin tit sucker. That kinda blew me away too.

I will certainly try but its gonna be awhile. Working all weekend 12hr days, plus the old lady's Bday is comin up Tuesday, baaah... never fails. Plus I wanna get back onto this lineout box and get it modded asap for the extra feed. Right now my palmer is still in there but this time for the first time I can use the the palmers "full range" side and leave out the fitered line send so its just naked raw unchanged line out but still gives me the dual split feed.
Hopefully maybe soon I can get this thing outside and get a vid at a distance so it don't eat my droids tiny ass little mic for breakfast. It just over loads the mic on my phone indoors and does it no justice. And like Beasty said a rig like this has to be jacked up or its kinda useless.

I am glad I got the 1000. I dunno how the 800 would be but personally i wouldn't want to go with less power. Clean Headroom is everything in this setup. If you got dreams of 4x12's dancin in your head-the 1000 is the go to. Since Thorn and Steve Stevens settled on the 1000 and Stevens replaced his HH with it-well I wasn't gonna speculate on their ears opinions.
At low volume its like turning down your stereo-Ed sounds like Ed on no matter what car stereo or home stereo you you play him through at every volume setting. So same applies here-what you put in is what you get out. Its just straight up linear how it works. Of course if you want cone break up that happens at the volume needed to get that to happen-its just physics. Other than that its immune to tonal pitfalls of not bein run hard enough.
Guys keep sayin man... thats too much power!!! :hide: Hell no it ain't-thats why there is volume control on the front panel!!!! :palm:  It can be any thing you want it to be. 50/50, 25/25, 15/15, 100/100. Its unaffected by volume settings as far as I can tell.
But..... its the dry cab that gets you-thats a toughy and hard to control. When I get a dummy/attenuator load for the peacemaker I can't wait to try it :D :hairband:
Its pricey yes-but you figure PA and Tube power amps are about at least a $1 per watt or more-this is not bad really.
Usin a Y splitter from radio shack out of the lineout box and skippin the palmer now altogether-workin awesome!
The GM50 is supposed to be voiced just like the 1000 and thats what i was gonna get. But I figured no-might as well have the thing that replaces all my needs configuration wise.
