mixer values

Post by rgorke » Sun Mar 10, 2013 11:14 pm

I am trying tighten my bass a bit. I have tried upping the NFB to as much as I can.

My mixer is 470k/560pf and that give me a cutoff frequency of 604 hz. If I go to 470k/470pf, that will give me a cutoff of 720 hz. So, will that make the bass tighter or just make the amp brighter? Is there a difference?

I will try tomorrow, RS is closed at 11 pm. :?

Any good results come from experimenting here? 8)

looking forward to hearing what you hear here. i use a 560p but my tests with different values were inconclusive and 560p is just the last value i tried - but i tried a bunch including none - ?? but i was fighting with other components at the time and blocking distortion which i think the mixer cap may have played into...

Ahh, if only that meant RADIOSPARES! Stick with around 420 to 560pf, but try different makes. I find the treble to be more effectively controlled with the 5000pf cap on vol1. Perhaps going higher on the mix cap is more important for dialing in a little cymbal splash to get that I'm The One effect.

Interesting observation. I've noticed going up in value here, makes the amp feel and behave in a similar fashion to hitting the front end with a boost or something. Not entirely all the same of course but like in a hotter signal sort of way. 8)
