"the" as in THE? And not simply the Fender I presume?
I wonderwhat it was doing on the bench? Getting ready to meet it's new, healthier than ever owner for another round of tracks?
I tell ya, just being less than 20 degrees of VG & DF ... We have it MADE theze dayz, that's all I gotta say!
So? Is IT... THE amp getting ready for another orbit of our fair planet?

Sorry to tease! I'll check with the powers that be and see if I'm allowed to reveal anything. It could be touchy.
I can say there were no crazy surprises inside, the specs thrown around here are very much on the mark. Also, Ross confirmed that THE amp was tracked for the new record, but didn't think it was ever used alone, always blended in with another amp.

What I really want to know: Is the power transformer a stock T2562 ?Is it a regular 4 diode bridge rectifier? Are the screens 1k? Ok, what I really want to know about is everything else too.
If you can't answer any of that I completely understand. So I'll just ask some more questions: If it's not a stock PT, what replica PT would you recommend that most closely resembles it?

Aaaaaawwwsheeeeeiit! This is gonna be greasy
Most of you guys know of at least about 5-10 things that make a browner amp outta the basic platform.
I think we just need confirmation is all.
Can't wait for the intimate details amp related or not. But prefer amp related lol!
Of course we would never expect you to piss off Ed by divulging things he may not want revealed.
This had to be absolutely awesome for you though. Hopefully you will be able to share alot with us.
Did you feel weird knowing you had IT in your hands??? Or was it kinda like no big deal just another vintage marshall and another day at the office??
I woulda been droolin like I had a stroke, pissin lightening bolts, and shit woulda been fallin outta both pant legs every step I took

Fuckyeah....
Funny thing I was wondreing this weekend " What If ED came to the forum and start reading the posts? What would he think? would he be pissed or pleased?"
I think the answer is here... He gave his piece of history to best man he could give, nice one George!

Dunno if it was trhough DF or not, but I think you are the brown sound man, no doubt, if there's one person that can bring that tone back from that amp, it's you.

I want to know the what the PT voltage is before the variac is added. Give me that and I'll leave you alone George!
Oh, yeah, and what the OT is...2.2K?
Ummm....and if the inputs looked stock wired? Was there a 1 MEG resistor there?

What is the treble pot value? Was it

?
It would be great to see some gut shots, but we all know that's highly not likely. Perhaps the magical amp is meant to stay that way. It would be great for those of us still interested in amp building, to see for ourselves. Perhaps it would generate some interest for new builders as well?

Why is the 1 Meg important? I don't think mine has one.
I would be building an amp but all my expendable cash goes to investing in my 14 yr old's baseball career. The batting cage is coming soon. Once he is the next Bryce Harper, then I can retire and build amps!!!!

If you agree to 1% contract earnings he gets....I'll give you the amp build money now Roger......
Apparently, increasing the 1meg to 3-5M and reducing the 68k value was a common "gain" mode that would keep amps "stock". I havent tried it yet. I think you can get the 68k down to 10-15K with reasonable results from what I've been told. Maybe this was an old Jose trick on "stock" amps? Hi gain amps I cant see it being effective but on a 1959 circuit maybe its worth a look?
Anyone ever see, or try this?
