Re: SoZo NexGen Mustards
Son of a... guess I'll be making a purchase.
Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

Re: SoZo NexGen Mustards
Hey guys, I just bought some of these to put in my JMP 2203 project. My friend converted my Mojave to a 2203. Cant wait to hear the results. I am also going to be replacing the Caps in my Blankenship VariPlex with these!
Anyone else try them yet?

Re: SoZo NexGen Mustards
My favorites have been CDE DME 1KV caps. And I've tried everything. Even turned Ben "Stuntdouble" on to them (RIP) but they never caught on with anyone else here.
I'll have to see if they compare in terms of clarity and punch. The CDEs are clear but not harsh. They let you hear the tone of your guitar very well. If the Sozos can compare, it will be interesting.

Re: SoZo NexGen Mustards
Just wanted to say that I have Next Gen SoZo's in both my newly rebuilt 50watt Plexi clone, and in my new JMP 2203 clone. Both amps sound like the best Marshalls I have ever touched. And the VH tone is NAILED with the 50watt Plexi with the Next Gen SoZo's. I couldn't be happier. Very organic and natural. Sounds like all those great rock recordings that have become a staple around here... not just VH.
Soundclips to come in a few weeks. Getting a new quad of Reissue Greenbacks. I want to get those broke in a little then record.

Re: SoZo NexGen Mustards
I'll be honest, I usually stick with CDE DME caps because they're really uncolored and give a great tight bottom end and clear mids, but for some reason, sticking the older handmade .02 sozos in the phase inverter coupling section ismagic. The CDEs are rather dry in comparison. The Sozos are very musical there.SoZo wrote:SteadyEddie wrote:I've always found Sozo caps somewhat dark sounding. Are these clearer for high gain applications?
Exactly , a key thing I strove for but without gaining any modern capacitor unmusical artifacts. Just like an original mustard, nothing more nothing less(Mustards work GREAT!!!!! in a high gain/ multi gain stage amp. )
I haven't found one cap that works in all spots. I'll be ordering a few of the NexGens to taste test.

Re: SoZo NexGen Mustards
I have a 45/100 build, and I pulled the Sozo vintage out and replaced them with Sozo NexGen. I have to say it sounded better right away. I bought into the hype, and I think that it is warranted. These are not even broken in yet.

Re: SoZo NexGen Mustards
I'd like to hear reviews with comparisons. What does it sound like compared to the standard sozos or the hand-rolled sozos? Brighter? Darker? etc... Give us a reference.

Sounds exactly like old mustards. I mean exactly. No other Sozo ever did this.

Re: SoZo NexGen Mustards
I don't think they can sound like Mustards, that is impossible.
