I love EVH.

I always have.

I hope their new album showcases how great he really is, and how good he is to come through what seems a difficult time in his life.

But...

I think his early tone was a touch grainy, peaky even. I think the recording technique back then probably didnt help matters. Then again, I think the Peavey 5150 tone was sh1t also. I think Ed sounded best live. As he liked to be. I just dont think the recordings do his tone justice. A broad statement maybe, but thats it IMHO.

You guys probably sound more like Eddie than you realise. Its just you havent got recording studio stuff in the way of your ears...

Did you look through the "VH Style Mods" sticky thread? I believe this spec is in there as well.

In terms of speakers, I believe Ralle has 6402 reissue greenbacks.
