you're one of those middle-aged corporate types who spends 20 grand on gear and plays the same piddly clapton licks with no arm movement and spends the rest of his time using money to make more money and doesn't do an honest hour of work per week and in the process of all this, you drive up the prices on vintage gear and the single family home, and then because you feel guilty, you come to message boards and push buttons on people who know the value of a dollar and the value of music. that's great.................

Actually, I think it's even simpler than that, tango. He's lying.

must be a burden when you are an encyclopedia of rock tone knowledge, but dont have the capacity to put your name on a forum. must be the price of genius the chosen few have to live with

An encyclopedia with no proof.
No pics of his unsuccessful build that were unable acheive
"The " tone. Where all the piles of Pickups he tried, that fell short?
Sound clips?

Shit, it's probably Eddie messin' with us. He probably just drank 12 bottles of Smoking Loon and he's having a great time misguiding us.

To tell you the truth; I don't even play any VH songs. I just love their old music and Ed's tone. I'd certainly like to play some of them in a band situation though, that would be a good ol' time. I'm more into RR as you can probably see, if Randy would've had tone like Eddies..WHOA!! I don't really play anyone elses music, I like to work on my own stuff. I'm sure it would make me a much better guitar player if I would start building a repertoire, I'm just not a patient person when it comes to learning someone elses music. I really envy guys that can sit down and try to nail that stuff nuance for nuance, my A.D.D won't allow that. I will say this though, my natural style of playing is very close to that of Eric Johnson's, I've messed around with some of his songs and found them to be right up my alley. I like to put that Eddie "attitude" into it though.

The mysterious guest is right in a sense and so is rockstah, I agree about if "you want to sound like your idols you have to use period gear" which is correct cause the modern stuff doesn't cut it new to tubes i am not sure there but i would think it would be the same. Modern speakers are prob too sharp but i don't know all i have is old speakers. I have similar gear to AC/DC super bass and sg, yes i know they used superleads but they also used jtm45s and superbasses. I have experimented with my gear to nail their early tone just for a laugh and i was surprisingly close, I do like to have my own tone I happen to admit it is similar to AC/DC but i know i will never 100% nail the sound or playing style but that is ok with me. no disrespect to rockstah but some of your posts are all over the place and i get confused with some of them sorry mate.
Mr guest or charlie i think you know your stuff but you are taking the wrong approach to put your views across because it seems as if you are taking the piss out of some of these guys or maybe they just can't help your constructive critisism.

Hey guys don't bother holding what i said against me I am just a bistander who is watching what is going on and i am agreeing on both sides
