Sounds like a positive tone change... my Fave tone of that whole record!
Could it be that maybe his strat was so out of tune after that abuse that he couldn't get a decent chord out of it?
We are talking pre-floyd here ..

Oh I'm sure he changed guitars after that solo because of tuning. However on the album You Really Got Me is played with the Korina wood Ibanez Destroyer. During the end of the solo you hear that bent note being turned on and off, and his Franky didn't have a toggle switch on it.
Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

Try not to forget that "overwound" pickups also become muddier as the impedance increases-Eddie never had a muddy tone so I believe he just had a good pickup (or magnets) to start with. He probably got his input boost from the EQ he used.

Hi guys new to the board here!
A long time ago I heard he had his pedals modded too. Maybe he stuck the MXR micro amp circuit in the Phase 90 so no one would know. He says he used the Phase 90 as a Treble Boost... sure seems weird to use a Phase 90 on every solo! I've never noticed a Treble Boost with my phase 90's anyway.

The Scripts do give a decent treble boost. Not the new reissues or that junk EVH with the supposed script mod...that thing is freakin useless...at least you can mod the reissues to sound decent.

Its not so much a treble boost as it adds a crunchy sound taht seems to resonate in the high end. Theres two mods Ive heard that he used. One was to slow down the effect. Its been a while since I used a script but I do think his moves slower then a stock script. He wasnt shooting for the 'phaser' sound thats for sure but the tonal improvements from having the phaser on and moving too slow to be an 'effect'. More a tone enhancement. The other was to bypass more of the signal to make the effect more subtle? I dont know about that one? Hell I dont know about the first one.
