Dude it's tough for me to buy without trying
That's why these threads are great for me , and maybe I can hook up with a forum bro and try his plexi out and if I'm amazed for me to jump on a deal like that in the future

I cant build ,
I can play but not build

Cheers

I cant build ,
Most of us couldn't either. We're not electrical engineers by any means.

I'm sure there is someone in your area from here. It's cool if you could try a 12000 series even on an attenuator. It's the sound your looking for.

The power tubes running full is IMO what gives you the harmonic overtones. A MV just doesn't sound the same.

I know man it sounds awesome but I need to play and hear it up close

Cranking a plexi isn't really an option for me either
Don't know how low the volume is with the attenuator either

That's why I am turning for help from you guys.
See I can play that shit well, and I would have to show you up close
But I also need to play the amp and feel it under my fingers

I'm not trying to be difficult even though it might seem that way

Things are so subjective

I pluggged into a Evh 5153 head after the Marshall 4010 and the store assistant said " this blows the Marshall away".
I was like " no fucking way "
I thought he was crazy that he thought that

But the Marshall is harder to play without all the gain
But the Evh sounds SO two dimensional

He meant to say, "My commission on this 5153 blows the Marshall away."

Totally

I never really liked the 5153 but back to back with the Marshall it sounded totally two dimensional

Even fully attenuated they sound better than the MV's. There is a touch sensitivity that exists. Its like an instrument all in itself. Not easy to get a hold on initially. You have to work at it a bit.

If you were not picky you wouldn't be here now would you? This place is full of crusty cantankerousness that is unmatched by any other forum. Guys here buy lawns so they can tell you to get off of them.

Absolutely. The power tubes and entire power amp running hot is what gives the EVH sound. No way around it, no shortcuts... I have tried many to no avail . The attenuator is far lesser evil...

The builders with experience have made their suggestions.
Ofcourse new fresh ideas are eagerly anticipated.
You have to start somewhere & you have to choose too.
Is it gonna' be price ? Tone? Both ?
Unlimited approaches and left to your interpretation of the sound you're looking for in your own personal quest.
Soo many examples of "VH brown-other than" amps are all over this forum.
Decide what you should do with your $1000.00.
Whether it be a total complete package.
