Thank for the feedback. :toast:

Yeah the amp is a little looser sounding and I'm liking that.

That's what you notice most when making filtering changes.
It feel's smoother, before it felt a little brittle.
It has a more creamy top-end.
The more I'm playing it today, the more I'm liking the changes.

With the exception of some filtering and the PPIMV, our amps are nearly identical. Tone wise as well as I hear that nice hairy grind.

That is definitely better filtering for the VH vibe. The higher value filtering is good if you want a more modern sound or a Steve Via type sound and gives it a harder feel IMHO. Some here like 16uf x 16uf pre amp and some like 32uf x 32uf.
Lower filtering and lower voltage puts you in the VH ball park, for sure.

As soon as I bypassed V2a (820r/.68uF) with another capacitor the gain when over the top.
Do you prefer V1b 2k7 or 820r ??

You may play resistors or capacitor cathode value :
http://www.ampbooks.com/home/amplifier- ... capacitor/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

1. Pay attention on Gain figure on Low E frek...
2. On Graph see desirable Mid frek. about 1-1.2kHz..

So you get idea.. before swapping cathode resistor or capacitors..

That's a cool calculator.

Thanks for posting that link, I'm going to put that in my favorites. :D

For the time being, I'm using 820/.68 on V1B and .0022 coupler. On V2, I have only a 330uF. 8)

I'm digging it. What do you have the volume on ch1 set at? Sounds like it's using that bright cap to thin the excess bass out of it, I love that high end shimmer!

Thanks for checking out my clips and the kind words. :toast:
