Yeah. I too think it's used more than you might think. ITO, Erup, Atomic Punk, RWTD, On Fire. Hmm. 8)

Not quite yet. But tomorrow when I get off the chopper, it will be some blue label and a round at Santa Barbara Golf Club. But, Ed still will have used an MXR 6 band.

Jose told me that Ed used it.

Insistent on using the 6 band for tone shaping? Increase the 68k input resistor and decrease the 1M to ground. I'm thinking it will maintain the tone and still give some boost especially with a MM or DSD type PU. Just some theory here. Fun to give it a try.

Decreasing the 68k's should give more boost (gain) :what:

I really don't use the EQs for tone shaping, per se. It is more of a sustain increase. When I use an EQ, i get more of that note blooming heard on the RWTD iso clip that Dave Friedman posted.

I agree. However, boosting the front end makes the tone slightly thicker but nothing wrong with that IMO

Huh, that's interesting. I broke out my early 80s MXR 6-band after reading this, and sure enough it does something nice to the EQ but thins out the tone in a way I don't like. Sorta subtle but there. Tried boosting, cutting, etc. Still can't love it. Maybe I need an earlier one....

Yes. Increase the 68k and decrease the 1M.

Into a stock 12000 dimed is absurdly noisy. The hiss you hear on the iso's are exactly what the 12000 does all on its own.

Trying to build a loop to switch the 6 band in and out of the chain. Any ideas? 8)
