Ralle,

That was most righteous! I myself am a huge fan of the Warner Demos tone. I feel you have that era of Ed's tone totally dialed in!

Cheers:) Since I have an original Destroyer I will likely never make a clip of "RWTD" or any other song tracked with Ed's Destroyer using my strat. But I may try my DSD in the Destroyer at some point. For now I'm sticking with Strat78's opinion that the Super 70 is the one...

I finally have my Destroyer in tune with the record...As Thorny did, I just listened to the recording and tuned each string to the recording. This is how I discovered that the whole guitar is out of tune with itself on almost all the strings (not just the beatless third tuned B string mind you...) Fuck! Hopefully I'll have time to make a clip with my "in-tune-with-the-record-but out-of-tune-in-general" tuning!

And Thorny...you are quite right about the groove that is present on the Van Halen album recording. But for me the tempo on the record is in the pocket because it is played just slow enough. For me I've always disliked most of the live versions because Ed is too busy trying to stick in the whammy bar and harmonic melody fills instead of relaxing into the groove of holding the chords and really putting feeling into the power slides of the riff...but I think all the live versions are too fast. They are usually trying to pump up the crowd and they get a little too frenetic and thus rush the tempo.

The recording is the dog's bollocks because of that deep groove and open space in the playing...

....in the tab... why is there an 8th fret B string ? Should hammer-on to the 9th ? :what:

Nope the TAB is correct for that part...the hammer ons are from the 7th fret to the 9th on the D-string and from the 7th to 8th fret on the B-string.

" You arent playing the whole riff right "

If you're refering to the timing... sorry about that, but it's kinda hard on my hand ( right one )... I just removed the plaster a couple of days ago, so... I broke it like five weeks ago, so I'm in training... :(
Gett'n there though...

I would say to try different guitars, even 'similar' guitars (same spec), just to see if one tracks better than others.

I have a flac lossless file and it indeed has that note sequence in the recording.
It will reflect this in my next clip

garbeaj was implicit on everyone being on the same page. I subscribe to this.

Lets see where did I leave off....ahh

Rogers clip..that should sound way better than it does with all the great equipment..sounds so boxy and lifeless .

Thorney's clip..unreal..find myself listening thru wondering when Thorny's is coming and it's darn near over..so close it's too close. :champ: Whatever you got going on there is the right setup.

Jimi James ..pip pip ....pip pip pip pip...playing with a feather pick..dig in  ..2nd clip 10 miles away and no highs, way too smooth. 8) which is enjoyable to listen too. :D

Thorny's celestian..to glassy edge on the attack  but not unbearable like garbeags attack.... :help: pickslide city

Ralles clip....so raw it's alive but when you turn up the clip volume ...despite the noise it farts out on the decay on low notes...needs more tightness or different amp spec....maybe yer speakers are finally giving up the ghost. :|

OK you can all throw things at me,,, :hide: :hide: :hide: :hide:
