Nice line out there MM. I notice a piher(brand name) potentiometer ..very expensive part and good quality. Tells me your tech Tommy cares.

Yep a pic is worth a thousand words. I'm gonna guess the amp has a jose type cascade

May as well take a guess..I think it was ralle who said a plexi has a good tone it makes sense to have more of a good tone. I like that logic. :D

until we have a component list and another clip where we can hear the amp in other applications - noodling etc, i consider this thread to be self-serving slap in the face to everybody in this community who have openly shared EVERYTHING they have done in order that the next guy can take it and run with it however he pleases.

otherwise let's just post clips of the album and pictures from fanzines.

i find this thread to be pointless.

that's my little opinion. carry on!

Well that's kind of true to a point ..but seriuosly if you came up with something unique , you don't think a company would spring up out of no where and start selling it. It happens and there have been examples on this forum of that. Sometimes the R&D work is done for them here and it's not fellow forumites it's the lurkers.

Look what happened to the unmentionable name ..how long did it take for clones of everything he detailed to hit the market and what did they give him for his efforts? Pain

It's like Alex use to say to eddie .."turn around or they will rip you off blind" or something to that affect. He was tuned into the world of selfish jealousy among guitarists way back then. Tell me he was wrong.

I wouldn't blame anyone for not wanting to give it all away. There is big money in EVH tone. But that's a choice for the discoverer to make. Sometimes you can lead a guitarist to the holy grail of tone but you can't make them drink...

Just for a lark do a google on the phrase EVH loadbox..5 years ago you may of got 5 hits ..now your 10 pages down and yer going WTF.

Rob,

I totally understand where you are coming from on this.
For me it has been a little holding back in recent months on info I have searched, researched, tested and tweaked for my personal use that I wouldn’t so easily want to give away due to the fact of that I would in fact like to make money building and selling amps…. Are you kidding making a living off of building and selling amps? Would be nice…. And a lot of the people on the forum do just that!

My take is this – there are a few different forum users, builders, sellers, people searching good tone. For some of these people they would assume know what is up and build/tweak it themselves and then on the other hand some may never fire a solder iron up and would be happy to make a purchase for the tone they have been searching for… now on the other foot some would assume take what they have learned here and have it be a tool and or data that will help them provide a service that they profit from. I mean after all that’s all anyone who sells amps has done. Learned from someone else.

This place used to be a forum of just people wanting to build a clone of their favorite marshall… it has, in fact, turned into a much more complex place. (referencing to my previous statements.)

It has made it a little less fun for me in recent months and u are right, I came here simply because I wanted to seek out tone and as well along the way help anyone else to do that because after all it has been people here helping me along. I always felt compelled to give it back if that makes sense….a community of like minds.

This has been a recent realization for me on this subject as far as my “possible” profit/money making/making a living building amps goes,… Ill let the clips do the talking and if its one of those particular users that would never touch a solder iron and would rather have me build them an amp, great, and if someone wants to use the info great and or even build and sell their own amps great. If someone just wants to tweak their amp to sound like mine, great…

Perhaps some rambling here but your post kind cleared some things up for me in my own head.

Anyway lets get back to finding the sound…. Have u installed the power amp in spec yet? ;)

Mark

And why is this name unmentionable? Never quite fiqured that out.

Hey, just noticed all of Georges kits are on sale from the banner above. Perhaps I'll purchase one and do that cascade mode I got from here a while back  . If it sounds good(or not) I'll make some clips and take a few shots of the insides so someone else can learn something as well. And in the process perhaps I can get guys like Mark, Rob, Ralle, Goodguest, Plexified,etc........ to point out some errors, and help me tweak the thing. I've learned more here about amps in a year here than I have 25 years of playing. Im not trying to make or sell amps, just interested in a sound. Can I use a soldering iron? Yes. If I have anything to share I most certainly do. Why? Because I take a lot from here a realize its not my own, but also realize its nothing new. I've taken way more than I've given back to this point. Someday, I'll stumble on to something great, turn down the girlfriend, "sorry, cant go out tonight, gotta get this on the Metro forum".

Yeah Rob(rgalpin) was right, it is a sickness.

I have to say this-

There are alot of clips on this board. When someone nails it-its really exciting to finally hear it.
There are a specific few I really admire the most though and like for myself.
We have to remember-this isn't a contest really. Its a bunch of guys trying to unlock that damn 30+ year old mystery of the brown sound-together- in one common goal.
Some of us just want it to use and try and take further that great tone-some do want to use it as a "hey look at me, aren't I your envy now?" thing.
An amp is a much more comlex thing than that to me. It allows someone to do and go where they want in there own playing and expression. I think I have my own ideals as well as others on a great tone here.
Would I like to know what exact pieces to pay attention to to get there?-yes!
Do I want to spend my whole life searching instead of jamming on it-NO!
Do I think someone should make killer big $$$ off this info here? I think its a question of ethics really at that point.
If you put alot of work in on finding it and legitimately breaking new ground toward it-yes-you should get some rewards even if it is money. But to think there are some who push big names, I know so and so, and this guy used to work on so and so's stuff, and want to put a big insane price tag on it -that stuff doesn't really matter in the end-ITS THE CLIPS THAT PROVE IT!
And the guy that can deliver an amp that sounds like the killer clips at a decent reasonable price is in it cause he loves doing it and not out to get simply rich. There have been alot of money making schemes with the EVH tone thing-and it has probably broke alot of people chasing it on guys who never had clips per say-but made people believe they knew something this board doesn't already know.
We all should know by now-its not a one special p/u-that should well be established period-yet there are a ton of p/u makers still trying to go on with it kicking that dead horse. Look at all the super close clips-quite a variety of different PAF copies and even some other non PAF based p/u's that get very close-that should tell you something-its not one soul unique p/u that makes all the difference.
Some want to build a name for themselves-and thats fine too. Who wouldn't want to be sought out by the big leagues for amp repairs, builds, and service. I can see that happening to some guys here.
But one day-it'll sooner or later be all common knowledge to everyone little by little what goes where-so you can only ride the money train for so long before someone else offers the exact same for cheaper-its called market competition.
It'll work itself out down the road-and if someone thinks they will retire on the brown sound legacy they are probably gonna be mistaken-Ed has already taken that pension plan.
So if its all spelled out here how to do it-plain and simple-and others can apply it at home and get it to work-then what do these other jokers really got that are robbing people sometimes with all the hype and haven't delivered-maybe even Ed himself?? They are gonna go down and the bullcrap rumors will go down with it as well. Time is on our side if you're here to simply get good tone and not cash in and simply share.
This will be the turn to tutorial for the brown sound before its over-actually already is. Secrets once let out of the bag will never return-thats a cold hard fact. And the internet has made this process faster I think-but only if the people putting in the info are genuine, true and honest with everyone else about things posted here and what was used in their clips.
Rockstah is right-some may just want to grab the box and go-others will want to know how to make it from scratch-everyone is different. I would buy a grab and go amp-but would want to learn everything about it to do all the future maintenence myself to keep it tip top. I am not the guy that takes his vehicles to the dealership to have work done-I like to buy the thing-but do all that stuff myself.
Gonna be hard to make any money for any one off this when its layed out stupid simple for the whole world to freely see first and foremost what and how its all done-from the guitar to the speakers cones. Whats left then?

Come on guys...give me a break !

I don´t try to hide anything from you.

The TRUTH is that I am a COMPLETE bonehead
as far as ampspecs goes, I really don´t understand them
and there is no way I can explain to people things that I
don´t understand by myself.

I`ve sent an email to Ralle, and asked him gently to give out
the specs of the 71 Marshall.
By the way the most of them is already on the forum if you
go searching for them.

There is not only just one way to achieve EDs sound.
I don´t own any of EDs old gear, not even a single pic
so I guess there must be a number of diffrent ways to get it.
I´ve spent countless of houres searching the forum for
information that I needed to put my rigg togheter, and I have
never asked anyone to give out information they don´t want to.

And also...Tommy makes a living out of his ampmods.
Giving everything away for free, doesn´t put any meal on his table.

MM. Nobody is taking a personal angle towards you in anyway. It's just the nature of this forum to learn from others, and if someone gets onto something, people usually share that. Not always, but usually. Tommy has every right to protect what he does for a living if its one of a kind and its his thing. No problem. I think most are more interested in Ralle's amp more than anything else. The load box and poweramp stuff is all over the place. Mark .A already knew and explained that in detal. If Ralle did a cascade mode, it would just be cool to see it. You dont have to know the specs for a picture. If Ralle doesnt want you to do that, thats fine. I dont think anyone would really think twice about his reason for that. I certainly dont. I'll fiqure it out myself. Just nice to have a few shortcuts now and then.

Another clip without the Cubase 8-10k boost would be cool! :D

[quote="6250"]MM,
Your not a complete bonehead.
/quote]

This threads getting out of hand, the poor guys doing as much as he can, to be honest your all shooting at him when it's Rally who has the info on the amp, his buddy Tommy makes a living doing this stuff so it's not beneficial for his business to share the info as with any business. I bet he regrets signing up now.
Can't we all chill on this, there's too much negativity going on it what generally is a fun and informative place :(

I've been guilty of not listening to what I am about to say...
... if Ed himself were to come on this forum and tell exactly what he did, there would be people lined up with a rope to hang him!

Give MM some slack, and let the rest take care of it's self!
