I can't post pics here for some reason. Tells me that a quota has been filled, or some crap like that. :what: I'm dying to show it off though.

Nice work! Where on earth did you find those 16uf Radiospares? Or the 1watt 8.2k Iskra? Or the 1/2 watt 1M Iskras?

Thanks man. I think yours is overall tidier and cleaner looking but I'm pretty happy with it.

Kitarist over in the classifieds is where I got a those Iskra's. The RS's was just pure luck. Today I formed the caps and they are all healthy and ready. Very pleased about that.

Temporarily threw in some Allen Bradley 68K's (Iskra's still en route) just to bias it up and turn it on for the first time. Couldn't get any bias readings and the amp had no sound. Realized that I forgot the ground wire off of the rectifier bridge. :bang: Sorted that out and then realized that the four original 6CA7's were way out of whack. Two are original Sylvania's that were about 25mA's apart. The other two were National Electric 6CA7's (which I think were made by Sylvania) and they were much lower than the lowest of the two Sylvania's, but only about 4 or 5mA's apart from each other. So I just have those two in for now. Fired it up and it works really well already. It was too late to step on it so tomorrow I be moving some air. 8)

Definitely a kickass build. It sounded really good once it fired up.

Give those tubes time to settle into the amp, maybe put the weaker ones in V5 and V6. StuntDouble had those 1w Iskras for the 470k and also the 220k positions, they seem to work great!

I agree with Strat...This may be heresy but I am not a hugely obsessed about a perfect match for tubes. Just as long as each pair is close, put the lower ones in V5 and V6 and then the other higher ones in V4 and V7 presuming that each pair is within 5 ma or so of each other.

Can't wait to hear the amp!!!! did you say which chassis you are using?

Top of the morning. Slept like a Rockstar. Can't wait till to get my monkey paws going on this.

I'm with you guys on tubes not needing to be matched up but one pair off by 25 and the other pair another 15 or so from those? That's really all over the map. But I'll give it a go. I've got a quad of brand new EH 6CA7's at the ready anyway. I still have to order a death cap too. I'm looking into the X or X2 type that are designed to fail in the "open" position so as not short to ground, should the thing fail. But it seems that since the chassis is grounded anyway, it shouldn't be an issue? :what: More to learn on this.
