Thanks guy's :D . Yeah, I REALLY loved that amp Phil, but got into some financial issue's :( . Mod5 spec just worked real well in that amp. It should arrive in London Ontario today to its new owner (Vanhalen5150 :D ) na just kiddin', It is going to FL6. I hope to, over time, aquire enough stuff to throw a 50 watter togather. I agree about the 'Custom Custom', it isnt as firm as ceramic but I love how it responds to digging in and the warm mids it gets.

Andy thanks for the sound clip! You've been starving us for some time now  Great chops and nice run through of a few different eras.

Thanks for the compliments :D . I've been very lucky to be 'online Friends' with all you guy's. Your awesome builds and clips (and all the knowledge lent to me for free  ) have been a great inspiration. It may take me a little while to afford the parts, but, it will be fun building amp #2

I say with 100% confidence that you will love a 50 watter. I built both and when I play the 100 watter, I pull two tubes. :stars:

Andy, how did you mic this clip??? NICE playing and tone there mate    Too bad you're selling it the way you are, hope things get better soon and you can build another smoking amp.

BTW, I missed the sizzle but maybe it's my speakers, but other than tthat, the chunk at the palm mute and the smak on the leads are ALL there in spades

I'm a newbie with recording. My buddy came over and used his mic (sm57) and recording gear. Alls I did was play a straight pass. Shannon, I've always wanted a 50 watt early '70's spec (HUGE Schenker fan).I like the idea of only 2 output tubes and earlier break up. It will be cheaper to mess around with nos/used out put tubes.Still, the 100 watter is a beast. Depending on the best deal I can find on the parts though, it may be another 100 watter. Thanks for the vote of confidence on the 50 watter Jnew.

cool! it seems that this setup is subduing the phase shifter to a perfect amount. you know what i mean? ed's phaser on vhi is subtle in the sense that you don't hear it stifling the power with the "wash" but yet you hear it's color very clearly. i think that has a lot to do with the entire chain and its interaction with the amp. i spent a good bit of time in the beginning trying to figure out how he got his phaser to act that way - thinking it was the phaser - but i think the answer is in the other components of the chain - and to my ear you are nailing that aspect of it. very cool to hear.

Rob,I set the phase 90 to about 10 oclock. It tends to get a little more hi end that way. Most of the time if I set it to 8 or 9 (like Ed did his ? ) it gets too much of dull mid bump type thing. Shannon, hopefully I'll be able to free up a little tax return money to get started building again (late Fed-early March ?). Not having my 12xxx anymore has me feeling like an addict desperatly looking for a fix :?
