I thought the 1400's were Zebra too. I also thought they had a screw coil and a slug but maybe not. I sent Roger and e-mail asking this but I think he broke up with me.

yer not gonna like this.... but, it goes all wrong since you posted a supposed MM13 in a 1400 thread you purchased assumingly :P

It wants to be a 1300, but I have absolutely no clue on what/where that reading comes from ?
None of the three pickups have that high of an output.
Although the wire color scheme looks to be correct the braided harness does not go through the baseplate.
Wire leads starting where they do.
If that is a Silver baseplate it is wrong color.
It has also been soldered what looks like to be a grounding attempt.
The ears & legs appear to be carefully re-bent in the opposite direction.
The holes have been stripped out and are now oversized to an unknown thread size.
The bobbins are now Black painted Cream.
The magnet is... wrong "?"s

What guitar did that come off of. Or, if not known, what pickup ring is that ?
He will plead it is an Estate sale an knows nothing.
His " rare? " to me signifies he knows squat.

Brand: Fender
Item location: Hood River, Oregon, United States
Ships to: Worldwide
mention's: "Figure 1/2 pound for your safe shipping", but was he talking to worldwide customers ?

This guy has a 100% feedback ?

Oh oh. Perhaps not a 1400 after all? Bummer. Super 2 is a pretty good PU but lacks on the lows in a big way. It's a squealer too. I put an AlNiCo II in and potted it. Usable but probably more ideal for a neck PU for a Paul. Just my opinion. 8)

1300 and 1400 double hex screws. 1800 is double slug.

I have seen 1400 with both chrome and brass plates and with stamping on inside and outside. I also have one with no stamping but everything else is MM (no holes in bobbins; same color cream bobbins; red, white, black and mesh)

wiring: red and white together, black hot, mesh is ground.

The reverse stamp is on both sides or just the one? Have not seen those or have dissected one yet. I will be on the lookout for those then. 8)
IIRC In one of MightyMite's magazine ads, it does show all three pickups and the color of each individual baseplate can be seen.

Like Strat78 had mentioned never saw a black one measure that...man that reading is nuclear...(re-wound?) wonder how it's gonna' sound ? ...maybe that short mag will sound good ?

I had a black one that measured 13k.

When I measure red to black on mine it is 4.34 and 8.69 on white to black. I have been tying off the red, then soldering the black to the mesh to ground and using the white for hot, seems to work fine. :toast:

Then aren't you only using one coil, the 8.69k coil? If you hook red to white, they are acting together to the black...then black to mesh should be 4.34 + 8.69 = 13.03K

This is the #1400 which was Mighty Mite's version of a humbucker at around 8.7k? -I've got three of those. The #1300 is the super distortion knockoff at 12k. I'm pretty sure Mikes pickup is a real #1400 that was painted black and for some crazy reason had the base plate flipped over.

Final verdict 9.1k Ohm from Black + to White -

Red is the coil tap. I can see the bare wire jumping the coils together from the side.
One coil measured 4.6k from The Black+ to Bare-
The other coil measured 4.7k from the White- to the Red+
(Red+ and Bare- are jumped)

Figured out polarity using a screw driver to jump the pole pieces while measuring each coil like in this YouTube Video.
It goes positive on the meter when I short the poles, negative when pull it off when meter leads are clipped on correctly

Alright kool. Much better reading, than what was pictured in the auction. Glad you figured that out... wierd huh ?
That's a kool vid, man. (I like the part about the Earth & magnetic N. ...wasn't paying attention in Science class)

What are you going to rock that in? Both the1300 & 1400 sound great in an HM.

That one picture in the listing with the 15k ohm was a single coil. I have no idea why it was in the listing. It threw me off too. The 4.37k ohm reading in pic 3 was also a weird reading to post. That was just one of the coils. The seller must not have known what he had.

I definitely want to try this in my Northern Ash HM and RB&W Franky.

I've had a couple of these 1400s (both were black, still have one). They were both microphonic with high gain (classic VH style gain). I had to have them both potted. But man, it's a great sounding pickup and def has that VH flavor.
The one I still have measures around 8.9k and the other was about 9.2k

I think the DiMarzio pickups sound totally different. The MM has a "chime" to it whereas most DiMarzios have a very pronounced midrange.
