Wasn't talking about the Variac. Hell Ed told everyone about that long ago.
Just some of the other values in his Chris's description that seem to creep into almost every EVH clone. Maybe it's all a coincidence
Maybe those other guys saw the amp too.

I'm just curoius about one thing.
Is Friedman claiming to be the amp guru responsible for EVH's current suck ass tone, at that porno movie party?
Are those Friedman Amps? Just wanted to know, so I could steer clear, cause the tone of those amps suck dog ass imho. Hell even the Peavey stuff was better than his current stuff. Maybe it was a bad recording??
Maybe Ed needs Ted.

I would take Marks amp, Ralle's Amp, or Mine, over what he was using at that party any day of the week.

ya know mike, that has me confused at this point. i mean i remember first coming on the scene and reaidng what seemed to be chris kind of frustrated saying " its a stock plexi, dime a stock plexi and youll get vh" i coudl almost feel his frustration of peopel trying to find evh when infact it was right under their nose - stock plexi! so when u say his values im not sure what u mean. arent you running stock plexi circuit? i mean the values im using arent chris's persay but stock as far as what ive seen in pictures of plexi's.

yeah i hear ya - but 100pf doesnt make that much of a difference - switch it out now that you have been using a 100pf and tell me u hear a BIG difference.

and yeah i have seen enough plexi pictures to warrent 330u being stock at some point.

I took a collaborative approach when doing this Marshall experiment thing. I got my amp, laydown PT and PTP board from Chris ****** and Dave finished it off with some tweaks and mods and that was it. The only thing original on my amp is the chassis, choke, swtiches, knobs etc.....the rest was all Dave and Chris. I would have had Chris do the whole thing but I felt Dave had more time and attention to make it the way EVH had his old amp. I credit both of them for excellent work and advice. Mark Cameron was a help as well.

Hey Mark (RS) I hope to see you when you come into town this Summer (IL).

Stock or no stock. you got to admit, it's a pretty specific configuration, even among 12000s there's a lot variance..
Not all 12000s are like the ****** spec 12000.

There is no one 12000 spec. You know that.

The only thing Dave did for EVH (from what I've read) is set up his rack system/effects switching. As far as Ed's current tone is concerned, it's exactly what he wants. Far be it for me to tell the guy what's good or bad.

But if you were to ask, I'd say I don't particularly like his current sound.

On a side-note:

I tried the whole amp slaving thing at a gig last weekend and it's pretty cool. Just had an old MXR Flanger, phase90 and a dan echo.

Still have some tweaking to do on some effects volume issues though. Dave's been alot of help in this area too.
If there's no quiet, there can be no loud.
