I think that amp can get fairly close,but that video doesnt demonstrate that. The gain is a bit nastier than early Ed and the feel is too 'constricted'. Dialed to its more stock jcm800 tones,it gets closer to early Ed. I think the Malmsteen model can get at earlier Ed better personally, concerning 'signature' amps.

I love the slash marshall but for EVH i prefer the vintage modern or YJM out of the newer marshalls.
the slash head is a killer and i heard it sound much better than on that vid. :twisted:

Even the AFD and YJM being "new old marshalls" I think they are great amps... But for sig amps, the one I heard the best VH tone out of it, surprisingly, was the 1959 RR. That amp can be dialed in for GREAT VH tones.... remember that Randy had tons of gain coming from the hot pickups, distortion +, 10 band Eq.....

I can't dig the JVM or the other newer models... that's something plastic about their tones that I can't deal with...

Andy, what model is that black LP? Looks so much like my classic :rock: :rock: :rock:
