Micro Amp Off On clip

Post by stef » Sun Nov 24, 2013 2:42 pm

Slightly confusing :peace: , but you should be able to hear the micro amp switch pop and the boosting and fattening effect

Everything on 10, under heavy attenuation
Mullard reissue EL34's
12xxx spec with 2k7/.68 V1b cathode, 2n2 plate coupling and 250uf/.68uf/820r V2a and 44nf at the Pi input
KnE Azusa/DSD (out of tune  ) 250k volume pot

With the fat cap and bass on 10 with all that attenuation is too bass heavy and flabby sounding IMO
The fat cap (v2a) has to go!?

Try a 500k pot along with a .022 PI cap. I like the push and furriness your getting  , very brown.

Thanks Andy
I've been using the 500k guitar pot for years, but in this particular ash/maple Azusa the 250K sounded much better. It was very bright and shrill with a 500k :what: maybe I could give it another try
I think that it's the big fat cap (250uf) that makes the bass boosted and loose sounding, especially with the Mullards. I should try to record it with the bass set much lower or off. The NFB is already tight - 27k on the 8ohm tap

Here's another clip - the bass was half way up, I think :stars: , micro amp ON

Versatility in your tones there :D , loved it. I also nearly always have a neck single coil in my builds. Your getting a tone VERY similar to Ralle there man, very cool indeed.

Nice. Good sounding amp brother. I love the little micro amp too. When you need to step on the front end a little bit, it gives it up real nice.
