I like the "Pepper" better-seems spongier and closer to the record...no surprise since I can't stand Floyd Rose tremolo generally. Did you use the 6-screw standard non-locking tremolo at all in your "Pepper" clip? I don't really hear any tremolo work there, but I do hear it in your Floyd "Salt" clip...

the only time i hit the wammy was at the end when i knew i was done - and didn't have to worry about spending the next 5 minutes re-tuning it! haha! but i caught some wicked feedback - came out pretty cool.

Old Salty here... I recorded a solo with the SALT guitar. PEPPER is actually the rhythm guitar on the left. All the solo segments are SALT.

All the guitars in the clip were run through the same amp as in the earlier clips of this thread except i put about 200k on pin2 of v3 to limit the smacking. Another difference is this is run through an attenuator so it's a little less than club volume - but louder than you would play in the dining room!

shoulda mixed the solos louder... :palm: :shred:

On your original 2 I liked Pepper the best, and I think that I like it a TAD better here too, but BOTH are winners!!!!!!!!!

Nicely done sir!

Nice jammin Rob :shred: Sounds it bit less 'throaty' than the other clips...perhaps because its a band mix and without splashy reverb. Man if your singer doesn't sound like young Kevin Dubrow, is that you singing?

haha! it does sound like kevin dubrow doesn't it... i hadn't realized that. yes, it's me. the chorus is in B which puts the melody way up there - just squeeze the wind bag and hope a note comes out. :listen:

while i was recording this, the amp started clicking. at first i thought it was cell phone interference. flicked some tubes with a pencil looking for the culprit. finally, turned the amp off and then back on and it went away. weird. can't take an amp like that out to a gig.

That DID sound like DuBrow there, very cool vocals :D . So Rob, the Salt guitar is the regular strat with vintage style 6 screw tremelo with the hot rail in the bridge, huh ? I loved the solo's there man, parts sorta reminded me of vintage Ace Frehley. Great tone and very tasty chops there bro

Thanks TS!
Correction: SALT is the homebrew strat with FLOYD and Dimarzio SD (bought in '79).

ACE! Never knew how much I loved his playing until I saw them LIVE in about '97 (?) the first tour with Peter and Ace since the break up. He played all the solos off of ALIVE! note for note - it was killer!

Found a PIC of OLD SALTY! Dense wood/tight grain, heavy like a bowling ball.
