JVM VH video clip

Not ready to ditch the plexis, but man, for a grab-n-go, plug-n-play amp, these JVM's are alot of fun!

Nice. I just watched both of your vids. Now I'm thinking of what gear I could sell to raise enough cash for a JVM.

Dohh, gotta go, here comes the wife.

There's one G12B-150 in there, I think. I don't know much about it. I assumed I'd want to throw a Greenback in there, but damn, it's sounds good just like it is.

That sounds much better to my ears than the last sound clips you put up. Could be the recording but I like the sound of that amp and guitar for VH better than your last one.

For the most accurate VH, it's the plexis. But the JVM can mimic those tones nicely and then go way beyond. No comparison between an SM57 up close and a camcorder mic, though. Perhaps you prefer the "roomier" sound of the cam mic?

That could be but I don't think so. I have kind of come to the conclusion that there are so many variables it is hard to judge tone through sound clips. What you hear in the room may not be capture on a recording. A good case in point is the first two Ozzy albums - Max Norman made a great live rig sound pretty bad. In any event - from the recordings I like the second rig better than your plexi. In person I might have a different opinion.

If you can achieve the van halen sound other then a plexi i think thats great, people concentrat so much on the marshall plexi but dont venture out to try different amps, did ED use marshall plexis, yea, but the truth on how he achieved the early sound(VAN HALEN 1)is still a mystery,we have talked about this so many times, i have talked to many people especially jose arrendondo, plus EDs bullshit dosent help as we know,i gave up all that tweaking and modded marshall thing long time ago,it was fun but you reach a point where you say to yourself this is still not the tone,so you try different amps, then you find the amp that capsures that(or very close) tone.

I'm really liking that JVM. I haven't played one yet, hopefully I will get a chance to later this week.

I was wondering about the volume you recorded that at and if the JVM works well at low volumes?

Thanks,
Jerry

I played one and liked it very well. Pretty versatile channels and I feel way better than the dsl2000 series as far as tone goes.
But something about the bottom end isn't quite what I look for. I like super tightness along with girth but.... a power tube swap or bias adjustment could be the cure or maybe the guitar I test ran it with lacked. Who knows. Tone seems to fade in and out of every amp I ever owned it seems. One day your feelin it then.. the next day you hate it... then back again :what:
I think it happens to everyone-even the legends. No one has kept the same amp forever consistently beside probably Angus Young. They even change too though. Wizards and 800's and... well its just insanity.
Tone is just a state of mind at times I think and feel I just think too much about it than I do just playing.
But it is one of the best marshalls to come out tonewise in a while. I can see this amp makin some miles go by and bein used along side alot of others out there.
