Need Help ID'ing Cab...

Post by Deric » Sun Jul 10, 2011 5:34 pm

Mentioned to a friend that I was looking for a deal on a closed back 212 cab and he told me about this cab he's had buried his garage. I did some searching and can't find out anything about it or if Marshall ever actually made a cab like this.

It's a horizontal 212 (somebody did a poor job of moving the logo). All plywood except the back which is particle board. Cheap plastic insert handles that I've only ever seen on their cheap MG cabs. Serial #A17947. Outside dimensions 30"x24"x12"

Anyone recognize or have any info?

Thanks,
Deric

Based on the pics, it looks like a 1936 2x12 cab Marshall made in the mid 80's.

Thanks for the reply!

Any thoughts on how these sound? Was thinking of loading it with a pair of 12-65's to use with a 2204.

Mine were too midrangey. I had three of them I tried, one like yours (plywood built) with particle board, two with baltic birch back panels. None of them worked for me, just too woofy/unfocused in tone.

You can try the G12-65's in there, but that's what I sold my last two with since they were stock with that speaker. Good luck!
