Hi All
Learning how to do clips with my camcorder at the moment and thought I'd take the opportunity to do a compare between my 2x12 cab with G12-65 and 4x12 with the Celestion G12C Greenbacks from the Vintage Modern / Hendrix cabs.

Actually very surprised with the results as I was quite sure I preferred the G12-65 but that was with my Peavey JSX. I do think the Camcorder is getting a better hit of the G12C as I think there is a G12C pointing directly at the camera Mic, which might be colouring things but certainly the G12C sounds more 'rock' whereas the G12-65 is coming up a bit 'scooped', like a G12H sounds like.
Interesting. I am going to rerecord this at some point with the camcorder right in front of each cab, just to check. Dammit....I was really happy with the G12-65 until now! LOL!
In real life, the G12-65 have a touch more bottom end and are a bit fuller sounding, whereas the G12C can get quite raspy and thin to the point where it feels like someone added a fuzzy distortion to your sound.

Through my rig C's sound brown...I actually like that fuzzy distortion. C's are less fuzzy and tighter sounding than new M's IME
65's sound muffled and dark in your clip, but a friend of mine use them with a 2204 head and I like his tone

Re: Celestion G12C vs G12-65
heyup ollie watched your vid personally i prefer the sound of the G12C there was a nice attack and top end the G12-65 did sound a bit sharp and not all there i guess it needs more breaking in although it's more aggressive which can be a good thing. Now question how do those cabs sound together I feel there may be a good match with the chug of the G1265. just food for thought

Not takin' anything away from the 65's love 'em !
I play a wide range of music from Blues to Prog.
The C's do it for me. Of course the Big Bottom that they're in helps.
runners up - Pre's, GB's, CB's
Bronze - 65's
Silver - BB's
Gold - C's
(75's & V30's taken with a grain of salt)
My next project Jim's gettin' the next call for a pair of M75's .... Those will be 65 watters
...and that's right after I sell these repaired 65's.... which reminds me...time for a classified.
