Hey guys
I just purchased a used EVHIII cab. Sounds good but just for the hell of it I have it on my looper doing full major chords going all the way up the neck. Anyone have an idea how much time would it take for this to fully break in the speakers? The wife is away for the weekend with the kids and dog so its a great time for me to do this.....not for the cat though

. Thanks.
also would it be better doing it for a longer time at less volume or a shorter time at full bore?

I'd let it go for two 12 hour stretches as long as you can pump out 25-30w of volume for that long, and you can stand it.

I'm surprised that people use the single 4X12" cab with the EVH 5150 III head, that will break in the speakers alright.

Those cabs sound really nice.....and at $999 you're basically getting the cab for free when you consider that the speakers themselves would cost $1000 for 4x. Regarding break in, do what Jim said....or plug in, turn it up, and assume the proper rock star position!

I know guy I was just mentioning that I have seen the single cab with the supposedly 4 20 watt speakers with the 100 watt head and just thought this was too much power for the cabs rating...

Gotcha.....Agreed, I don't think Id be cranking a 100 watt head over 4 or 5 on this cab. This cab has loosened up nicely after 16 hours on the looper (volume at 6 on a 1977 2204). These EVH's are obviously not Scum's or 003's (Ive never had the opportunity to play either personally) but they sound pretty damn good to my ears.
