Speaker upgrade for Class 5?

Post by jbzoso2002 » Sun Sep 26, 2010 10:39 am

I just got a Class 5 Marshall and it has a 10" speaker.

The tone is just missing something, and I wonder what I should
try in there for an upgrade.

I want the Greenback tone.

I played a Class 5 at a store around here and I thought it kinda lacked depth and balls. I think something with more bite and bass would do it well. I'm thinking a Scumback 10H75 (30 watt) or a Weber Silver Ten, maybe a Weber Blue Pup, both in 15 watts.

Jimmy, just for fun, we can trry one of my Eminence Alnico blueframes, before I drop them in my cab when it comes. Does your C5 have an 8 ohm?

The client that got one for his Class 5 went with the 10M75 30w 16 ohm. He said it sounded awesome until the amp rattled so bad he couldn't stand it.

Hi Jimbo, you know what there's a small hockey puck jamed between the chassis and
the speaker magnet.

Maby he didnt replace it when he changed the speaker?

I cranked this thing full blast and no rattle at all.

And its so cool lookin, like a little bluesbreaker.

If I get you 10h75 Ill make it work with no rattles, after all it doesnt rattle now.

My guess is that the hockey puck didn't get replaced, or it didn't fit after the speaker upgrade. But it's a guess.
