2x12 or 4x12?

Post by danwelsh » Tue Oct 07, 2014 9:03 am

Hi guys......question here. Should a fella use a 2x12 or 4x12 cab for a 50 watt head.....rectified or not?. Anyone tell me the differences with caps that are rectified versus not?

Ugh, this question makes zero sense. Homework time on your nomenclature.

Up to you.

All amps are rectified, guessing you are thinking tube rectification? AC to DC is either SS or Tube.
The caps question makes no sense. Filter, Signal? Still doesn't matter.

I think that he want to write about the difference between a straight cab and a slanted one...

No.....what I meant was what's the difference between https://www.long-mcquade.com/7761/Guita ... nt_Cab.htm

And this https://www.long-mcquade.com/15730/Guit ... ed_Cab.htm

Sorry if these links aren't allowed I'm trying to explain my question.....and I know they are 2 different makes just one says rectified and one doesn't. ....

Rectifier is the name of that line of cabinets, doesn't mean that they are rectified...

I'd stay clear of any Marshall MG cab (in your second link) if your going anywhere other than your bedroom. There actually made from sawdust, spit and earwax to stick the tolex on, in fact I reckon the shipping corrugate box could be stronger. I also like they way they don't actually tell you what the celestions are?

Best buy marshall cabs imo are the mid to late 70's one's.

Thanks for the tip man......I'll likely end up building my own cab early next year anyway......I might as well since I'm building the head
