What year or years for Marshall Logo on Corner Protectors?

Post by vkaxeman » Thu Nov 17, 2011 3:47 pm

What year or years did the Marshall 1960 a/b cabs have the corner protectors with the Marshall logo embedded in them?

I've never seen the corner protectors have the Marshall logo embossed on them....handles, sure, corners no.

Got any pics of this anomaly?

Jim, I have them on one of my 2045 cabs from 74, I took what remained of them off sometime back as they started to get brittle and crack (so they are original  ). I've seen some repro one's recently somewhere but they had lower case lettering?

Btw thanks for the help with 20w greeny quad email before

My 1976 A cab has them. I will take pics tonight and post. Look just like the ones above.

Jape88...you are welcome for the speaker help earlier. Rather have you buy a legitimate 20w G12M than one that's been reconed.

vk...ok, now I know why I haven't seen these...I don't own any Marshall cabs from that era...my youngest one is a 72 straight cab, and my other checkerboard cabs came to me with broken corners, or already removed, so I never saw that little Marshall on them.

I only have one Marshall cab with plastic corners anyway, and that's a JCM 900 era slant I think so that's why I've never seen them. No need to post a pic now.

Not sure IF they even make those anymore...but good luck!

I have been searching pics of Marshall cabs and have not been able to find a pic of a 1973 year Slant or Straight cab or 1977 year or later Slant or Straight cab with the Marshall logo embedded on the corner protectors. But kinda hard to tell from some of the pictures if there is a logo on the corner protectors or not. So maybe they just used a mold to make them with the Marshall logo embedded from 1974 to 1976?

Anyone have a 1973 year or 1977 or later year that has the embedded logos on the corner protectors?

Here are pics of my 1976 year Slant Cab:

And I have not found many with flat head screws on the anti-skid trays and corner protectors? Any idea what years had these flat head screws instead of rivots?
This is a pic of a 1973 Slant Cab ( not mine ) that has Rola Labeled Greybacks. ( Corner protector missing in this pic )

If the corners came out 72/73 (MARSHALL raised embossed) and there on my 74 (spk date code) then the chances are that the branded one's are from the start (imo), on the basis that a later increase in supplier charge for a branded tooling mould would be something that marshall would avoid ...then at a later stage (80's?) they fitted none bespoke standard corners to reduce supplier costs :what:
Just checked with a guy I know who has a '78 (spk dated) and the corner protectors have no logo on his, but we'd need some more confirmations before drawing a line on 78.

I think I've seen that pic before?

I thought they look like the ones you can buy new  there's not a lot more I can say unless someone has full history on a cab with this sort of 'modern' logo ...although I'm no expert on injection moulding but I'd have to say it would be harder to achieve a logo like this in the 70/80's but I'm probably wrong.
