Tayden speakers?

Post by Puerco » Sun Apr 19, 2009 4:59 am

Does anyone have any experience with tayden speakers? They are handmade speakers from the UK, link: http://www.audioloudspeakers.co.uk/tayden_guitar.shtml" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They are sold here: http://www.lean-business.co.uk/eshop/in ... Path=77_79" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for 179 Uk pounds ($264) for the AlNiCo 25Watt version (4, 8, 16Ohm).
They certainly have the looks, but do they have the sound?
Cant find any more info on the net but a couple of ampmakers like matamp use them.

No experience with those at all sorry. I am a big fan of Alnico speakers and if I was in Europe I might very well give those a try. I have tried most all the Alnicos available here some I liked and some I didn't. Not all alnicos are equally good or bad. I don't like the frame they use attaching the connecting tabs by one tiny piece of metal is looking for trouble. While that isn't guaranteed to break I can guarantee it will break more often than the Celestion or Scumnico tabs.

Yes, that part looks kind of fragile but I wouldn't be too concerned about that.
They're a little bit expensive to buy just for trying, for 10 pounds more they have celestion gold or blue speakers, can't go wrong with those but if these sound better....

I can tell you I like Scumnicos better than the C. Blues. Checkout what they cost to you. I know other other Europeans have bought some.

Last year at $2 to the Pound they were a bargain, and it was a no-brainer. Now we're around $1.45 it's effectively pushed the price up by 40%, which makes quite a difference. Fortunately I got all mine at the ideal time.

I'm still gassing for a 4x12 full of Scumnicos though!

My guitarist friend has just bought a Quad of Tayden "Brit 60" and couldn't be happier. And this is after an EXHAUSTIVE speaker shootout with Celestion V30, G12-75T, G12H, G12C and the Engl V60.

These really look like EXCELLENT options for people in the UK looking for a Celestion alternative. And handbuilt in the UK!

Think people in the UK should really check these out, these might be our UK equivalent to Scumback and WGS!

i just bought a 2x12 with Tayden true brit 25W speakers, my Marshall AFD now sounds FABULOUS, appetite all the way.
I've tried the V30's, scumbacks, a mix of a G12H and a G12M which is a killer combination with my soultone 45PS, classic lead's (supposedly THE appetite speaker, but the Tayden's just sound so incredible they gave me goosebumps with the first chord i played, just awesome :hairband:
