Celestion Blackbacks with 444 cones? Any good? How do they compare to the 1777 cones? I have a lead on a quad of these. Guy says they are the same, but I'm thinking thats not the case.

The G12H 55Hz blackbacks are great for metal IMO.
Great for palm muting chugging and some say a bright top end, ie a scooped sound but nothing like G12 75s.

I found the G12M 55 (444 cones) a bit dull.

As Neil pointed out the 444 is a bass cone (55Hz) likewise with pulsonic cones 003 lead 014 bass. So imo your better option would be to go for 1777 the lead cone, Dave F recommends these in an evh style set up but check they haven't got the chrome dust covers as Jim (Scumback) has observed a brighter tone over the conventional mesh cover.
Maybe a mix of both 444 and 1777's?

Thats what I was thinking, different res. frequency. The 1777 cones are scarce these days.
