Running 4 16 ohm cabs...too much strain on head?

Post by Panzersonor » Mon Nov 01, 2010 8:39 pm

Hey everyone!

Just curious: Will running a 100 watt Metro head running 4 16 ohm cabs (total load 4 ohms) be too much on the head? I know that you can do it, I just don't want to put too much strain on the head. Am I nuts? I thought I heard something like this before....?

Thanks!!

As long as the ohms are matched you should be fine. I've done it, but I was using a 71 Super Lead, too. Sounded gloriously insane, I might add.

10 is 10 whether you're feeding one speaker or 16. The impedance is what matters. If you're not running the head on 10 than you should have no problem at all and if you do you'll loose your hearing and the amp won't be a problem ever again because you won't be able to hear it.
