yep .... and i must say the scumnico is pretty badass , really like the chord complexity while crunching ..... only thing that lacks to these comparos to me is high volume test even though it would be hard to make the truth shine through tiny computer speakers :| ..... m75 is pretty astonishing as far as smoothness goes too , it's a ceramic but has far less "edge" than the current celestion ceramic offerings , it's obvious here , it compares more to the alnicos in this test .... i hope one day a BIG shootout will be made with ALL the brands and models , each of these shootouts always lack one or two brands , here ASW , warehouse , tayden :? it's a bit stupid ( well the guys at rivera spend more than 1200-1400 bucks on these speakers so stupidity is perhaps not really in question here  , my point is if you do something at least do it complete or do it not right ? )

I sent Rivera the speakers for free to use in that demo, so they're just paying shipping to come back to me.

You'll never get anyone to do a complete shootout again. The ones I did in 2005 were the most comprehensive of any of the Greenback/pre rola tests, no one else has the speakers to compare, I suspect.

As for current production speakers, hell, I'm not afraid, but if you heard that video, some of those other companies really need to listen to what they're producing, or sending for testing, before they put it on the market. No, I'm not saying which ones...but there were 4-5 that were just, barf!

When I get my new digs going, sure, you can come over and taste test some speakers, but you ain't borrowing my amp!

I just had Dave put in the simple clean (footswtichable) channel in it, so it's going to be one of my main demo amps.

I'll be getting ready to move to Whittier sometime in the next month. Bring your muscles and a truck on a Saturday morning in late August. There's a $100, lunch, beer and loud jamming on me.

Be careful in Whittier there's a lot of Hispanics that like music. Any way the dirty to clean channel isn't nothing new, I know how to do that. I just wanted to hear the difference in tone, I'm actually set on a mod that Wilder Amplification does. He doesn't do the "Jose mod" on his amps like Friedman (he calls the Jose mod something else in his mod) but it sounds very good all around universal.

these speaker shootouts are great. it does kind of annoy me how they put the mic so close to the speaker though. its like listening to the speaker with your ear right over the dust cap, which is not a true representation of the sound you hear when playing in my opinion.

i know its easier and more economical to do it that way, but ideally id like to hear 4 speakers in a cab together, with the mic capturing the sound the ear hears when stood a couple of metres away from it. but im just awkward like that.

I agree. I don't know anyone who plays their guitar right next to the speaker, but to level the playing field, I guess this makes the most sense. I'm always a good 10-12 feet from my amp just so the tone develops properly out of the speaker.
