GE 6ca7 matching
Ok here is my qiestion. I have 4 Big bottle 6ca7's. 2 pairs. the pairs are 20 ma off from each other. Would these be ok in a 100 watter or are they 2 far off? Also, back in 60's and 70's did they bias/match tubes? Or did they just "pop um in and play"? Wonder if EVH, Hendrix,Page etc. Had matched tubes in their amps? So what would be "bad" about using tubes that were not matched and far off? Say 25 ma 37ma 45ma 15ma??? These are made up values for the sake of discussion. Also would older, more stout tubes be better mismatched then the newer tubes that need screen resistos? thanks

Re: GE 6ca7 matching
Here's my two cents. i had a NOS matched set of Mullard 00s, and one shorted. I put in a couple new replacements, and one did NOT WORK, it sounded like a race car and thin as a mint...i put in another one, it worked great, and still does! i would use your ear more than the numbers...
