Nos Mullard

Post by herbvis » Mon Dec 20, 2010 1:48 pm

So ive got a chance to pick up a old mullard pre amp tube (ecc83)for a good price. I have a modded metro 2203 with an added gain stage (#36 style). It has chinese rubys in the preamps at the moment. I have never played an amp with an origional mullard, but everyone states that they are the best. Just was curious if anyone could tell me if it will "improve" the amp tone. (i know its a subjective subject)

The short answer is "yes".

However, in my experience, the less gain of the amp, the more the improvement. But I think you'd notice very well in that circuit.
