Pedal Help Needed - MXR Distortion Plus Pot problem

Post by Hazy » Fri Feb 17, 2006 4:36 pm

I'm trying to restore as best as possible my old MXR D+, which another - really, not me - modded horrendously. I've gotten it back to what looks like stock; however, it's not. As I turn up the Distortion pot to about 12 o'clock, the pedal goes dead quiet, as in shuts down.

I replaced the Dist pot with one from SB Electronics that is a 1 meg reverse log pot reading 855k. I cleaned the solders all over the board, installed the correct IC, replaced the diodes, and cleaned/re-soldered the socket (yes, he put a socket on the board). Still, it shuts down.

The pics are below...can anyone see any prolems? The Distortion pot is very scratchy right up to the time it shuts down the pedal. The resistors are new metal film that were from the mod; however, all of the caps are original.

Ideas? Thanks,
