Rev C Mxr phase 90 csp101sl
I'm planning on buying a new (2015) mxr phase 90 csp101sl. I know it's not the same exact sound of the csp026 (no LED scrpit phase 90)
I was wondering if one of you guys have any opinions on the revision C version? Dunlop did remove the evh pcb from the new ones apparently and I've found a pretty good deal on a new one!
Thanks!

Took me a while to figure out that you were talking about a Dunlop MXR Phase 90!
It would be cool for someone to make an A/B clip with a vintage one. I've had mine since 1986...it has 1973 pot codes and sounds awesome, but I would be curious to see if these new ones sound as good.

Try the Whirlwind. They sound as good as any of the current models.

Why buy a Whirlwind? They are around $130 as far as I've seen and this CSP101 thing is only $99. Any Phase 90 or clone thereof should be a-b'ed with a vintage Bud box.

The wirlwind would be pretty sweet but I don't have a retailer near, I could be it online though. It's just that I can hit a script phase 90 with led for pretty cheap! Have you tried them both? If so, give me your opinion! Trying to get as much feedback as I can before buyingrgorke wrote:Try the Whirlwind. They sound as good as any of the current models.

Re: Rev C Mxr phase 90 csp101sl
Call me crazy, but why buy a Phase 90 clone when you can get a real vintage one for not very much more than a clone? Why buy a clone when you can buy a brand new Dunlop Phase 90 that is cosmetically identical to a vintage one and at the very least sonically identical to a clone if not sonically identical to a vintage one? I just don't get it...

I've bought the Led Script phase 90! Got it under the shop's orginal cost
I can't find any demo of the pedal online. If I've got the time, I'll post the link on this tread!

Hey guys, not really a demo but I've record like 30 sec with the pedal! Not much but it can give a general idea of what to expect from the reissue with the led.

The phase effect sounds way too strong to me...maybe it's just the recording? Sounds like a regular Dunlop Phase 90 to me.

I have a mid 70s original, the non LED reissue, and a 90s reissue. They all sound pretty much the same at gig volume.

Re: Rev C Mxr phase 90 csp101sl
I'd have to disagree. The vintage ones and proper vintage reissue ones sound much more subtle, exactly like Ed's and every great recording featuring a Phase 90 regardless of volume. The Dunlop block logo ones, the EVH and really most others are WAY too pronounced. Most YouTube clips of people trying to play Van Halen licks feature these later models that have way too much of an effected and affected sound. The really good reissues and Analog Man modded new Phase 90s get the subtle sound of the originals.
