What's a vintage Dimarzio Super Distortion worth?

Post by NY Chief » Wed Oct 29, 2014 5:03 pm

Bought new (when in HS) in '77. Had it in my LP for many years 'till I went with WCR FIllmores a few years ago. Great pup. Is it worth any kind of stupid money that I can use to fund the next project with? 8)

When you find out, I'll possibly be interested. I'm on the hunt.

Not worth much really, just a few weeks ago I saw a pair of 70's DSD not selling at $100 for both on TGP...

Well, that's not gonna fund much. Guess I'll throw it one of my side projects. New ones are apprx $80 but I hear they don't much the same.

Will do but I'm gonna hold io to it for now. I was hoping it might worth stupid money because of some Ed rumor or such!

I think stupid money would be $200. But given that it is probably the old 'square foot' 13k version with larger ceramic magnet and also that it is indeed a very early VH vintage, $200 is pretty reasonable. That pickup is the real deal not like this other $$$$ EVH branded ticky tacky. Randy roads used that pickup too. I think $115 would make everybody happy! I've got a drawer full of these. :palm:

Nahhh, everybody knows I hate all things remotley connected to EVH...even if I did build a frankenstrat ot two, or tired the super distortion and had an MXR phaser, flanger, EQ, tried the slaving thing and sat up many a night wearing out VH 1 trying to figger how the hell that guy did that ererction solo... :)
