I finished a Tubescreamer and Silicone fuzz clone a couple months ago and they sound great. Now that I know how easy the Rangemaster is, I'm going to take a stab at my own boost design. I got some parts from smallbear so I'm ready to go.

I'd like to try Keith's Phase90 clone next.

The rangemaster is just a simple Ge boost into a small cap for a high pass. You could easily add a cap to any clean boost pedal to serve the same function and switch between cap values or none at all. Keeley does this sort of thing with the Java but he uses Ge's.

You read my mind!

I'm going to add a switch to go from treble to mid boost (and maybe clean boost), and another for germanium or silicone transistor. I think I might have to add a bias control for the different transistors but I'm not sure.

No I think you should too. Not only is it best with two different types of transistor but two different transisters period.
