Yeah, they have a LP wiring/tips pdf there as well which is fun reading (along with all the other wiring info you see at the LPF):

http://www.singlecoil.com/docs/paula.pdf

Singlecoil's caps are so cheap, it would be fairly easy to buy theirs and compare to hovlands, mallories, ODs, etc using alligator clips with one end soldered to the actual pots....then you should be able to swap caps out quick for listening tests.

Awesome! Looking forward to hearing what you think. I was going to order a pair of bumblebees and black beauties from them.

Ha! Did you really email WIMA about it! No manufacturers head wouldnt explode hearing someone is painting their products, passing them for their own and charging like $6 a peice for them.

Dude, that sucks and one of the reasons I was holding off on ordering anything from them....the whole "if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is" thing. I'll be curious to see what Wima has to say.

Maybe he should learn to paint metal too. It looks like half a hack job.

If he was honest about what he was really selling I never would have bought any of those caps.
Has his website changed? I took a look (since I didn't before when this thread started) and the description plainly says they are new manufactured caps by a well-known manufacturer and due to some customer requests the caps are painted black and coded....the only thing missing is specifically saying they're by WIMA....has it been edited due to your complaints?

I certainly dont remember reading that before. I read through it fast but its possible much of that was changed since I first read it. I certinaly dont remember that vibe when i first read it. Lets see... 'due to costomer requests'- Do you believe one person emailed saying they would prefer they were painted to look old? More like hiding the fact that theyre a cheap cap so they can sell them for $6 a peice. You can bet your ass WIMA aint gonna like it. I have a serious problem with every single thing sold on that page. Its as if someone wanted to make a few $$$ so they found a bunch of dumb shit to sell and charge a stupid amount for them.

I know this sounds kind of dumb Gonzo but did you try them anyway :) Maybe it is as they said 'spent countless hours trying out caps' and found a decent one. I cant think why the hell anyone else would sell a PCB cap taht looks nothing like those old caps.

BTW- do those 'tropical fish' caps really sound good in a guitar? Does anyone know what make they are? I have a few from my bandmaster heads and theyre .02u!
