Bare Knucle Pickups

Post by Necrovore » Mon Jan 23, 2006 7:57 pm

This is mainly directed at Bainzy. Bainzy just how good are those pickups? I did a little searching on their website after listening to a few of your audio clips. Do you use those pickups and if you do which set? I've been wanting to hear a clip of the Warpig set. They just look so fucking sick, that on looks alone I'm thinking about picking up a set, but thats no chump change to drop for a set of pickups.

All I can say is that Tim makes some of the most authentic vintage repro strat pups I've heard IMO, I reckon he's more of a humbucker specialist and what's more important he'll work with you. He changed 3 different sets for me free of charge until I got what I wanted, phone him, you'll see what I mean, good guy.

Thanks, but seeing that I am across the pond from you guys I think an email would work better. He sounds like Jeff from Highorder, but for more metal oriented pickups. At least thats what all of his stock looks like.

Whoops, missed this thread - sorry for the late response.

The pickups are hands down the best I've ever heard. I got a calibrated set of VHII's, and the exceeded my expectations by far. I couldn't believe it - that ultimate rock sound I have in my head, these were it! The keywords with these pickups are power, harmonic complexity and simply tone!!!!!

That feeling people get when they lay down hundreds on real PAF's and plug them in for the first time, that's what I can imagine it's like. Tim's gone through every single damn detail of the original PAF humbucker and recreated it, for many aspects sourcing original parts. The pickups are scatter wound with mismatched coils - that's one of the reasons they sound so good. Now that I've been spoilt with these pickups and got used to them, everything else I try now sounds crap lol

The staff are fantastic and can alter the pickups for you if you'd like (or tweak them a bit), and are extremely helpful and dedicated.

they are definately in my things to get list. I just wondered if you have heard what the Warpig set sounded like. They seem to get great reviews. Funny as this will probably be my first aesthetic gear puchase outside of guitars, I have decided to buy. The Warpigs just look plain sick!
