Loss of High End in Phase 90

Post by rgorke » Sat Nov 24, 2012 6:05 pm

I have a very early block Phase 90, recently it sounds really dark and I loose a bunch of high end. Any thoughts? I have in the past gotten (?) a bit of high end boost with it.

Thanks

Roger, if you're using a battery as a power source, it may be an older battery and as it drifts slowly down in voltage it may misbias certain sections of the circuit causing a tone change. just a thought.

i would also closely inspect any recent changes as Maverick suggested

It does it with all my different guitars and various pickups. I tried changing the battery. It still phases and sounds good just sounds darker than it did, or what I thought it did.

Never had a phase 90, but my phase 45 has a trimpot that affects the sound.

the same exists in the phase 90, but be careful adjusting this trimpot. do VERY small turns and try the result.

other than that it could be a bad component in the phase 90.

is there a volume drop along with the high end loss?

Very slight. I will try and make a recording of it tonight.

Geez, I figured out that I had another cable issue. Same issue as in my cables, Cables, CABLES! thread. If, through lots of use, the solder (or atleast mine) can come a bit loose. Ugh, nothing wrong with the pedal.

Merry Christmas....
