TrainWreck Transformers - What to use?
After seeing pics and hearing MP3 of a TrainWreck, I'm seriously thinking about putting one together also.
GREAT job on this TrainWreck build:

Can you tell me what transformers PT and OT you used or recommend??
I'm probably going with (2) el34 in the power also. I'm wondering if using a plexi 50w PT & OT would be OK?
Thanks

This is the one everyone seems to be using. I can't compare to anything else, but I sure don't have any complaints. It's a really fun and easy build ... and it's much cheaper than a Marshall. I think I put mine together for about $350.

Hey! You guys are the best!!!
Thanks for the link and info for the trannies. I just purchased a set. I'll post my results when I finish the build.
It's sooo confusing though....So many versions and modifications that can be done to the circuit..... I don't know where to start.
I'm probably going for a version that can clean-up well with the guitar tone knob and roar into the "high-gain" sound when wide open. I think want a little more "ooomph" than a blues type amp.
Any circuit suggestions or comments?

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp

Geetar Picker's clips are awesome ... they're the sole reason I wanted to build one in the first place! His is a real Wreck played through a real '59 Les Paul. I think he got both when he was a kid. Nice investment, huh. If only I had that foresight.

I just finished my Trainwreck after seeing gnugear's over here. I just copied the layout from the Fracesca pics at ampgarage. I gigged with it hours after I finished it, I'm pretty blown away by it. Phil
