Hi Guys a friend of mine Jack Jones (Irwin Thomas) has the 1st Bogner made especially for him, and it doesnt even have a stand by switch. The reason l was told that Reinhard told him you want tone then less is better, l guess it might be true, but the bogner has way too much options and how many would you really use, maybe 2 tones. Thats why l agree that the Plexi's etc.. have the tone. The simple the better.
Do a search for Irwin he is endorsed by Marshall and is featured somewhere on their site. You see he has gone back to the original

Hi Brent,
I followed your clips over on HC when you were modding the Bogner. Sounded nice, great for the best of the 80's Modded Marshall tones.
I tried a Shiva up in SF when I was completely jonesing for a new amp. Was not blown away, not a bad amp, but nothing like the old JCM800 I used to have years ago. I heard a 101B in Sherman Oaks at volume, again nice, but it wasn't unique enough or a perfect take on the vintage Marshall flavor that still sits at the top of the heap of great amp sounds. Then I found a Gibson Goldtone halfstack down in socal. THAT blew me away, like the best cross between a Vox and a Marshall. I just recently picked up a Germino Classic 45 (JTM45) that I'm really liking for a second flavor of more vintage Marshall tone, and I use it to play bass for recording with a Sequis ML di, and that's wicked as well.
There were several heavy hitters on HC that had Bogners, and I'm pretty sure they all got sold. Amp questing can drive a guy crazy. Seems a lot of people eventually end up coming back to the most basic and vintage of circuits, from when it all began. Simplest is often best.

Everybody l know who owns a Bogner now have sold them... funny isnt it they were like top of the list for many artists back in the 90's and now people are wiring up Old Marshalls. Players like Jake.E.Lee using 100 watt Marshalls all the time. I guess people get tired of one sound and try other avenues trying to be different or try something that has been talked about in the music circles. I truely believe it is in the fingers and in the spirit of the person that makes them unique, l could have Eddie Van Halens rigs and l will never sound like him, because each unique player has a finger print in their sound and technique that can never copied.

Agreed.
Although amps are an important tool in the player's arsenal, probably more important to tone than the chosen guitar if you think about it.
Eddie's got chops and will always sound like Eddie. If Eddie was playing through a Gorilla p.o.s. solid state amp, he'd still sound like Eddie...but playing through a p.o.s. solid state amp LOL.
Which is why you want to find an inspiring amp to play.
Bogner's aren't bad amps at all, just IMO they kind of get lost in the middle of trying to stay true to Marshall roots and trying to be something unique. And I wanted one bad as well when everyone else was wanting them. Go figure.

Go Figure l also wanted one, until l played one in the store and tried and l mean tried to dial up with all those switches a decent in your face fat tone. But you know that all l thought was this is a glorified Marshall. So l rather build a METRO - Amp and have the satisfaction of the learning curve.
