Reic strat questions

Post by MRX2099 » Fri Feb 10, 2006 11:26 am

Ok I have a '01 mexican strat, looks brand new, but I want it to look like a relic ,different color, mine is brandy wine, dark red very nice but I want it to be like the off white "relici-ized" other than sanding down the body and repainting the scuffing it again , how does one get the pickguard to look old, and what about the chrome and make it still work even thought it looks rusted but plays ok. Has anyone got any websites or books on how to do this to make it look real relic-ized? and I saw a few that the neck looked old somehow like the wood has been played in a cigar club for like 20 years like the wood color changed on the neck

any help is appreciated

Jeff - keep in mind if you change or remove the finish on the neck or body that guitar will not keep its same tone - the pickyguard aging - trying soaking it in tea.

You could always send it out to the guys at rsguitarworks.com. They do outstanding work that gives Tom Murphy a run for his money.

RS are big EVH freaks and they did an EVH black and white stripped guitar that was genuine down to the cigarette burns and chain strap. I've never seen a knockoff look that good. Their shit is the best, at really good prices.
