Toured the KranK Factory.

I live in tucson and the Krank factory is in Phoenix. So i stopped by. Really cool people. They took me around the shop, showing me how they build the cabs, where they burn in amps, and i played through a Chadwick and a Revolution. The Rev was high gain, it was OK. The Chadwick is a 50 watt classic rock amp. Single channel with an envelope button that kinda acts like a Hot Plate. The amp was pretty good, Really crunchy. I did find it weird that it got a little flubby when cranked, even through the 4x12 with 80 Watt Eminence speakers.

But all they kept talking about was "We use only the best components"

1. PCB's with ribbon cables and PCB Mounted Filter Caps.

2. They were bragging about the "Orange Drop" caps. I mentioned that i thought there were some better sounding caps out there-"Sozo's". But the part owner thought that if they were using Orange Drops then they were the best.

3. Shumacher Transformers. Never heard of them.

4. 6L6's. Why 6L6's??

But i did like the 50 Watter and for $1300.00 not too bad a deal. They are coming out with a 50 Watt Classic with 2 channels.

They also told me to bring in my Fire Breathing 1976 Marshall 2203 with Metro PTP and the Krank would kill it. I just may do that!!!

Schumacher transformers are stock in most Fender stuff from the mid-60's through the 70's, I don't know if they still use them or not though.
Isn't it illegal to sell KranK? It should be. Blow their asses away Dax.
